Fiber Art Masters ATL Class- (Ladies's of Creations) (January 16, 2021)(9:00am-3:00pm)

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: This beginner's class is one of three levels know as Fiber Arts Masters ATL Class that will introduce students to small applique art using a prepared pattern that will increase skills and knowledge in the field of quilting and fiber arts. Completed works can be used for wall hangings, purses, pillows, etc.
Materials Included: Included in the price are: African Swatches, Batting and Heat and Bond
Requirements: Each student must have a sewing machine, Scissors or Rotary Mat & Cutter, thread and Needles
Instructor: Jan Hollis
Instructor Bio: Jan M. Hollins established herself as a fiber artist known for creating textured prospective in her Art Quilts. Her love for fabrics began when she designed and custom-made evening and wedding gowns and African Fashions. She decided to add to her passion by studying interior design but found creating home d?cor and art quilts to be satisfying. In 2011, Ms. Hollins opened a business in the area of fiber art design sales, and quilting instruction. She and her students exhibited their quilts in the "Textured Inspiration" 2012 show in Sacramento, CA. At the conclusion of the exhibit, Ms. Hollins was instrumental in being one of the founding members of the quilting group, "Sisters Quilting Collective" and" Fiber Art Masters" of Sacramento, CA. She decided to expand her creative talents by relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2016. Ms. Hollins artwork has been juried, accepted, and awarded in several notable exhibitions including the California State Fair 2013; Pacific International Quilt Festival XXIII in Santa Clara, CA 2014; Houston International Quilt Festival 2015; Chicago International Quilt Festival 2016; Clara Ford Foundation 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019; North Charleston Cultural Arts Dept. 2017, 2018, 2019; National African American Quilt Convention 2017. She has been published in Quilter's Newsletter Feb/MAR 2016 issue for her art quilt "Days Gone By". Ms. Hollins is featured in a collaborative book with Aisha Lumumba and Lawrence Sullivan printed in 2019. She was awarded first place in the African-American Heritage Category for her quilt art "Hands of Gold" at the Atlanta Quilt Festival 2019. She was also awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Artistic Excellence in 2019 by the National African-American Quilt Conference. Ms. Hollins currently resides in the Atlanta, GA area and plans to continue art quilting, instructing, creating and presenting her style of fiber art while supporting the culture of African-American Quilters.
